Meeting with the architect about the Elder Beerman store did exactly what we hoped – it gave us an understanding of what we are realistically looking at.  The hope and dream of the Mall is still in place.  But,  our main question was – is conversion of the place a 1 million dollar project or a 10 million dollar project?  The answer:  honestly, somewhere in the middle of the two.  To cut an auditorium into the building with all of the structural work and steel it would require would run from 4 – 5 million.  That’s the brutal fact.

All the reasons why the Mall is a good idea are still in place:  1) basically  unlimited parking 2)  Nearly unlimited square footage, AND  3)  MUCH cheaper than building  whole new facility (even at 5 million).  A new facility for our needs could run from 18 to 20 million.

All of that said:  What now?

I appreciate the wisdom of our leaders and not jumping off before a lot of prayer and study regarding the WSM. Is there another sight out there to consider? We need to do something soon or we will start loosing the growth we have.Pray! God will answer!

In a multitude of counselors there is wisdom. All of us are excited but have not interest in doing anything that will cripple us. I think it’s a good experience in patience and wisdom.

Would it be feasable to have “special” WSMall offering each week that could be put into a “Building Fund” and draw interest? This would be soley for the purchase/remodeling of Elder B facility. This would be over & above the regular tithe.

anything is feasible. We would honestly be better served, first, to get aggressive about paying off the debt on our current building. It would certainly create more freedom.

I agree with the Scraggs maybe it’s time for a building campaign. I hate to think we may loose people because we can’t grow. Also I agree with Wayne, thanks for not just rushing in on “the high of April 5″. God will do a good work if we are faithful. Bret I know you’ve been faithful for over 10 years time for the rest of us to step up to the plate (offering) and pray.

hard to argue it will be needed at some point. timing is everything. For now, we just need to get creative with our current facility.

    Hey Bret
    Great site.
Has the church thought about the possibity of maybe producing a DVD of what goes on at Bethel what we believe maybe talk about some of the program. and just mail it out to people on the southeeast side. With all the talent at church I think it could easily be done. It could also by used by member to invite friends to church.

Yes we have. I love the idea. You’re right. I think it should be a part of our next great push into multi-site.
